For all the denying he’s doing, he is either lying and incredibly ignorant of the serious consequence of his denial or… he’s actually telling the truth. Well, I have no way of knowing either way. But I find it hard to believe that his lawyers would let him dig a bigger and bigger hole for himself. It is now too late for him to change his story without facing some real legal consequence.

However, what I really have a problem with is that somehow a lot of people look at the Mitchell Report as being the definitive authority on what really happened. Well, I haven’t read it, yet, but from I do know about it, I’d say it seems rather incomplete and inconclusive. And the report is naming names, it seems, with evidence provided by just a few individuals. That hardly seems enough investigation and makes it hard to agree that there’s enough evidence in there to accuse anyone specifically.

I think if not for the fact that Andy Pettite has come forward and admited that he did indeed get injected with HGH, then Clement would have a lot more credibility right now. But with Pettite’s admission, it becomes much harder to judge.

Well, I thought Americans believed that you were innocent until proven guilty. I just don’t think Clements has been proven to be a steroid user, yet!

What a terrific beginning for 2008 so far!!! First I got a new job and now the Giants are going to the Super Bowl. It’s just so awesome!!! Keep the good things coming, man! =)

Ok, ok, maybe save some for the rest of the year… hehe… Anyway, as a big Giants fan, I can’t tell you how happy I am!!!

My Giants are in the playoff!!!

December 24th, 2007

The Giants beat Buffalo Bills yesterday 38-21 and clinched a wildcard spot with a record of 10-5 (with one more game to play). They are now in the playoff for 3 straight years. Let’s hope they do better than the two previous years and move beyond the first round. I like their chance. They will play the Bucs, which in my opinion is an opponent the Giants can handle. After that, they will play either the Packers or the Cowboys, who will be a much bigger chanllenge.

Anyway, good job, the Giants! People didn’t expect them to be in this spot when the season began and here they are!

The Giants came back and won in Chicago. That makes me a happy man today. But Eli Manning still didn’t play a good game and I have no confidence that he should be counted on as Giants’ long term solution at QB. Anyway, the Giants are now 8-4 and things look good in terms getting into the playoff as a wildcard. But they just can’t seem to have better luck. Derrick Ward played a good game (154 rushing yards on 24 carries) but broke a leg in the forth quarter. Damn…

Now onto the Yankees… I hope they don’t get Santana. I’d hate to see Boston getting him but I just don’t want to see the Yankees giving away a lot of good prospects and then still having to sign Santana for a shit load of money. It doesn’t make sense. It’s not my money they are spending but, God, it still doesn’t add up. They should have more faith in their young players. I’m not a big fan of Phil Hughes and think Milky Caberra’s offense needs to add more power. But heck, they are young and they are cheap. As far as I’m concerned, they have a lot of upside. You spend all that money and giving away so many players and there is still no guarantee Santana can prove to be a good value. I already think the Yankees made a mistake by bringing back A-Rod while giving him so much money. Don’t make another mistake…

Let’s recap what’s happened to the Yankees over the last few weeks…

- They lost again in the first round of the Playoff…
- Joe Torre was basically forced out of the door…
- A-Rod says goodbye and is now looking for a team that will pay more than Yankees could (good luck!).
- Joe Girardi is picked over Don Mattingly to be the next manager.

Here are my thoughts on each of these events:

- For all the money they spend, it is indeed time to do better than just getting into the Playoff. At least get into the World Series, ok? What good does it do to fight your way back from a terrible first half of the season only to fall short still in the Playoff? Oh well… There’s always next year…
- I didn’t want to see Torre go, but then again, a change isn’t the worst thing that could happen. Let’s just see how good a job someone else can do.
- A-Rod leaving? I don’t really care. For all his numbers, he doesn’t make or break the Yankees. They will find themselves a good enough 3rd baseman and another power bat…. All for less money, too!
- Girardi vs. Mattingly… Frankly I don’t have a preference.

Anyway, I’ve been reading up on what’s going on. I’m troubled by what’s becoming quite obvious to many people by now… That is… Hank Steinbrenner seems to be every bit like his dad in the past. Listen to all the things he said. I’m worried that he won’t let his baseball people run the Yankees and Cashman can’t make the decisions he wants. We’ll see what happens but it doesn’t look good now.

It’s not cool to see the Yankees to be in a state of disarray. But then again… The Giants are doing super right now. That’s enough to make me a happy sports fan right now!
